This enamelled cast iron casserole dish Vanilla White, is both elegant and high-performance, designed for lovers of traditional, hearty cooking. Its 30 cm size (with a capacity of 3.8 litres) is perfect for preparing delicious meals to share with family or friends, serving 4 to 6 people.
The exterior features a glossy plain white finish, iconic to the Mamie Cocottes, range, while the interior is coated with a light beige enamel specially made for cooking, that is both non-stick and easy to clean. This casserole dish is as practical as it is beautiful, with its two ergonomic handles in matching enamelled cast iron and its cast iron lid fitted with a stainless steel knob oven-safe up to 250°C.
The self-basting lid plays a key role in the success of your dishes.By creating a continuous natural self-basting, it allows steam to condense and then fall back as fine droplets onto your food. Result: more tender meats, richer sauces, concentrated flavours… and less need for supervision! Perfect for slow-cooking a dish for several hours without having to open it constantly. This casserole dish is designed for slow and even cooking. It is ideal for slow-cooked dishes (such as beef bourguignon or curry), braised vegetables, family-style sautés, combined cooking methods (searing then slow-cooking), or oven-baked dishes like gratins or roasts. It quickly becomes the centrepiece of your everyday kitchen.
Unlike traditional casserole dishes, our enamelled cast iron model offers a homogeneous heat distribution, ideal for preventing burnt spots or uneven cooking. It also ensures excellent heat retention, keeping your dish warm for longer, even off the hob. Thanks to the Maillard reaction optimised by cast iron, your meats are seared to perfection: crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. This material also helps to reduce energy consumption, as it requires less heat for perfect results.
And that's not all: this Mamie Cocottes casserole dish is also suitable for all hobs, including induction, and can go straight in the oven. A true champion of versatility.
For maintenance, the enamelled interior surface allows for easy cleaning. Most of the time, a rinse with hot water is sufficient after cooking. For stickier dishes, a quick soak in soapy water does the trick. And above all: do not remove the natural seasoning that develops over time – it’s what gives your dishes their unique flavour, improves cooking performance, and prevents food from sticking.
Durable for decades, this casserole is also an excellent gift idea for a wedding, birthday, or housewarming. It is also included in our Mamie Cocottes 7-piece set, — perfect for a fully coordinated and practical kitchen, offering the best value for money.

Enamelled cast iron should be heated gradually. Preheat your casserole, frying pan, or Dutch oven for about 4 to 5 minutes over medium heat, then add a small amount of oil or fat before adding food. There is no need to use maximum power: cast iron retains and distributes heat very well. Also, avoid heating your cookware empty for too long.
Always allow your utensil to cool before cleaning to avoid thermal shocks. Use hot water, dish soap, and a non-abrasive sponge. For stubborn residues, soak the utensil before gently cleaning it. Hand washing is recommended to maintain the enamel’s shine over time. Carefully dry the edges after each wash and opt for wooden or silicone utensils to prevent scratches.
