A family meal
It all began one Sunday lunchtime, in our family home in Vendée. That day, our grandmother had prepared her famous beef bourguignon, slowly simmered in her enamelled cast iron casserole dish. A unique, unmistakable flavour. At the table, between laughter and memories, she confided to us that this very special taste also came… from this casserole dish, passed down through the years. A simple, yet precious piece.
That was the day the idea was born.
When looking to buy a similar casserole dish, we found that the market no longer offered affordable alternatives without compromising on quality. The major brands dominated, and the prices no longer allowed everyone to rediscover these traditional items in their kitchen. Yet, these casserole dishes have always been there, in every grandmother’s kitchen.So why should they no longer be accessible to everyone?
It is in our Vendée countryside, land of gastronomy and craftsmanship, that we decided to revive these timeless classics: enamelled cast iron cookware. But not just any way. With durable, stylish, practical products at fair prices.
And that’s how Mamie Cocottes was born.
