The kamado grill pizza stone is an essential accessory for making homemade pizzas with a crispy crust and even cooking. Placed in the kamado, it absorbs and diffuses heat evenly, which allows the dough to cook from below while benefiting from the intense heat of the charcoal grill.
For a novice user, this stone transforms the kamado grill into a true outdoor pizza oven. It allows for cooking closer to a traditional high-temperature oven, ideal for pizzas, but also for breads, focaccias, tarts flambées, and other dough-based preparations.
Made of clay, the stone helps to distribute heat and limit overly hot areas. It is particularly useful for preventing the dough from burning directly on contact with flames or the grill. Once properly preheated, it allows for a well-cooked, golden, and crispy pizza base.
What is a kamado pizza stone used for?
The pizza stone allows you to:
- cook homemade pizzas directly in the kamado;
- get a crispier crust;
- distribute heat evenly;
- transform the kamado into a pizza oven;
- bake breads, focaccias, tarts flambées, and flatbreads;
- avoid direct contact of the dough with the grill;
- improve the cooking of the bottom of the pizza;
- enjoy the intense heat of charcoal.
How to use the pizza stone?
Place the pizza stone in your kamado grill before heating. It is important to heat it gradually with the kamado to avoid thermal shock.
Allow the stone to preheat until it is very hot. Then prepare your pizza on a lightly floured pizza peel, and gently slide it onto the stone. Close the kamado lid during cooking to maintain stable and even heat.
When the pizza is cooked, remove it using a pizza peel. Then let the stone cool completely in the grill before handling or cleaning it.
For maintenance, avoid cold water on a hot stone. Simply remove dry residue with a spatula or suitable brush once the stone has cooled.

Questions before choosing your kamado?
A kamado is much more than just a barbecue. Thanks to its ceramic bowl and excellent heat retention, it can be used for grilling, searing, smoking, roasting, slow cooking, and even making pizzas or bread. It can be used for quick high-temperature cooking as well as long, slow cooking.
For best results, use natural lump charcoal, without additives or chemical fire starters. This type of charcoal provides better combustion, produces less ash, and allows for better temperature control. Avoid classic briquettes, which are often less suitable for kamado cooking.
Yes, temperature control is achieved using the vents located at the top and bottom of the kamado. By opening or closing these air inlets, you adjust the temperature according to the desired cooking type: low temperature for smoking, medium heat for roasting, or very high temperature for searing meat or cooking pizza. After a few uses, adjusting becomes very simple.
The choice depends on the number of people you regularly cook for and the space you have available.
To help you choose:
- 15 inches: ideal for up to 6 people
- 18 inches: 39 cm grate — ideal for 6 to 8 people
- 21 inches: 47 cm grate — ideal for 8 to 10 people
- 23 inches: 50 cm grate — ideal for 10 to 12 people
- 25 inches: 55 cm grate — ideal for 12 to 16 people
For typical family use, a 15 or 18-inch model is usually sufficient. To host regularly or cook large cuts of meat, opt for a 21-inch model or larger.
Yes, maintenance is very simple. Just heat the kamado to a high temperature for a few minutes to burn off cooking residues, then scrub the grill with our cleaning brush. Once the ashes have cooled, all that remains is to regularly remove them to keep your kamado clean and ready for use.
Lighting is quick and easy. Place natural charcoal in the basin, add a natural firelighter, then open the top and bottom vents to allow air to circulate. Once the charcoal is well lit, close the lid and adjust the vents to reach the desired temperature.
The kamado's ceramic is guaranteed for 20 years, a testament to its strength and durable design. This barbecue is designed to accompany you for many years, performing as well for cooking as it is elegant on a patio or in a garden.
